Wilko van Weert
A member of the Brussels Bar, Wilko’s principal focus is providing strategic advice on EU, Belgian and Dutch competition law, as well as on compliance with the regulatory and ethical standards that our clients are nowadays expected to meet.
In addition to his role in defending clients in international cartel investigations, Wilko has significant experience with intellectual property-related matters connected to the technology and life sciences sectors, including technology transfer, patent pools, standard setting and generic entry. Over recent years, Wilko has frequently advised on the antitrust and merger control aspects of renewable energy and environmental cooperation projects, as well as on ESG, notably to the EV/automotive sector.
Clients are situated in a wide spectrum of industries such as FMCG, food, high-tech electronics, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment and automotive. Wilko is leading the compliance efforts of several companies and associations active in these areas.
He has frequently acted in support of M&A transactions by obtaining regulatory clearance under the EU and national merger control regimes and has defended the interests of third parties in several landmark merger control cases. Wilko has the network, insights and experience to facilitate a fruitful interaction with the relevant authorities.
Before joining Liberius, Wilko was heading the Brussels Office of Norton Rose Fulbright.
